Kids will be even safer at school after rules came in allowing teachers to search pupils for weapons in England.

The government has given teachers advice on how to carry out searches, which could involve airport-style metal detectors.

Not sure

Children who refuse to be searched could be stopped from going into school.

The government says knife incidents are rare but hopes the rules will stop kids even thinking about carrying a knife.

It's recommended that groups of pupils are chosen at random for searches, so that everyone is put off having a weapon.

Searches can only be carried out by authorised staff and two teachers must be present.

Kids will only be asked to take off outer clothing, such as coats or jackets.
